We took off on Thursday evening with clouds, rain and just plain nasty weather to wake up to a beautiful sunrise, calm seas and GR8 diving on Friday morning off the coast of Catalina Island. The first dive site at Starlite had 70 + visibility and we were greeted with the usual suspects, Garibaldi, Sheephead, several large bait balls, Lobsters and much more. Our cook Donna gave us more food than we needed but no one complained. The water was unusually warm, a balmy 65 degrees, little or no currents and with several new ocean divers exclaiming how fantastic the conditions were.
Many of the new divers couldn't believe how GR8 the diving that was so close to home and yet so affordable,
they don't call the Channel Islands the Galapagos of the West for nuthin'! Many of the divers were able to start some of their Specialty Courses such as Deep, Night, Boat, Hunting and Fish Identification dives. While Scott made 9 dives, Kim & Jeff never got dry, Tina & Rob made their first night dive along with our old friends Rick, Eric and Mikey, Cheryl had fun taking pictures of the lepard sharks, Dave, Gary & Justin acted as Safety Divers, while Tony, Chuck and Vicki were Divemasters,
also joining us for the first time were Adam & Romina.
Our next trip will be March 12th 13th 14th and it still will be Lobster Season. We all ready have 6 people signed up so don't wait too long.
